I get e-mails from time to time asking about our setup and how it is we are able to have Paul on the line from a different city and take phone calls all while broadcasting live. We’ll start with the setup, we’re currently using:

Behringer XENYX 1202FX Mixing Board
Behringer Multicom Pro XL MDX4600
M-Audio Audiophile 192 Card
Behringer Minimic MIC800 pre-amps (3)
Behringer C1 Condenser Mic (3)
Fostex PH50 Headphone Amp

We also use two computers for show (plus laptops for us to surf on, chat, etc), one is used strictly for broadcasting the show to ThereIsNoRadio, our Live365 station and archiving it for the podcast. We use Simplecast for that now though at some point we’ll have to move it up to SAM. The other pc is for Skype, to achieve the phone call thing we take the output of the effects bus on the mixing board to that pc, that bus contains ALL the audio with the exception of theirs, this way we don’t get feedback. With Skypes conferencing we’re able to have more than one person on the line. It is not the ideal setup though and at some point we will move to a larger mixing board with multiple buses and a couple of proper telephone interfaces. But that my friends will have to wait until I can save the money or someone is kinda enough to donate them.
